Your Child- God's Vision- Their Future
Our Story
The Journey of Maranatha Christian School from one man's vision to a bright shining lighthouse
1971 - 2010
A Pastor with a Vision
Pastor Deryck Stone, senior pastor of Maranatha Community Church, carried a heart for Christian education long before the school existed.

1994–1995
The Seed is Stirred Again
Changes in South Africa’s education system saw many churches in Gauteng opening schools using the ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) curriculum.

1996
The School is Born
Despite limited finances, the school pressed forward. Pastor Deryck himself built student desks, painted classrooms, and installed blackboards, personally investing in the vision.

2004
Curriculum Shift
After several years of growth, the school transitioned from ACE to the RNCS (Revised National Curriculum Statement), aligning more closely with the national curriculum.

2021
Embracing Academic Excellence
Under the leadership of Pastor Kobus van der Merwe, the school successfully transitioned to the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), strengthening its academic foundation while staying rooted in Christian values.

Today
Vision Fulfilled
From its humble beginnings in 1996, Maranatha Christian School has grown into a thriving community. This growth stands as living testimony to the vision and passion of Pastor Deryck Stone. “With Jesus, one man can make a difference.”
